Sources
Stetleaf Academy lessons paraphrase reporting guidance for teaching. They do not reproduce checklist item text from the guidelines. For the full guideline — including any checklist, flow diagram, or explanation-and-elaboration paper — go to the publisher or the EQUATOR Network library. Always follow your target journal's instructions.
Each wave-1 lesson lists its own sources on the lesson page. This page is a high-level map of the main guideline families those lessons point to. It is not a complete bibliography.
Stetleaf and Stetleaf Academy are not affiliated with, reviewed by or endorsed by any reporting-guideline group or the EQUATOR Network, or any journal. Guideline and organization names are used only to identify what the lessons teach about.
How to use this page
- Open the lesson you are reading and use its Guideline sources box and References list.
- Prefer the DOI or publisher link on that lesson over a saved local copy of a checklist.
- Confirm you have the current version before you rely on any item numbers.

EQUATOR Network
- Library of reporting guidelines: https://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/
- EQUATOR home: https://www.equator-network.org/
Used across several lessons as the place to find guidelines by study design. Citing EQUATOR is not a substitute for citing the guideline statement itself.

- Explanation and elaboration: https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj-2024-081124
- CONSORT and SPIRIT site (linked from a wave-1 lesson): https://www.consort-spirit.org/
See the lesson: CONSORT 2025: an overview for trial authors.
SPIRIT 2025 (randomized-trial protocols)
- Statement: https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj-2024-081477
Named in several wave-1 lessons alongside CONSORT.
STROBE (observational studies)
- Statement: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pmed.0040296
- Explanation and elaboration: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pmed.0040297

See the lesson: STROBE for observational studies.
RECORD (routinely collected health data)
- Statement: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pmed.1001885
Discussed with STROBE in wave-1 lessons that cover observational studies using routine data.
PRISMA 2020 (systematic reviews)
- Statement: https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj.n71
- Explanation and elaboration: https://doi.org/10.1136/bmj.n160
