Terms of Use
Last updated: November 6, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and STETLEAF LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("we", "us"), which operates this website and the free Stetleaf Academy under the names Stetleaf and Stetleaf Academy. They apply when you read the site and the free lessons. Please read them; they're short.
Our Privacy notice explains how we handle personal information on this wave of the site.
1. Who can use the site
The site is for people aged 16 or over.
2. What this site is
This wave of the site offers free educational pages about research reporting and related topics. There are no purchases, no accounts, and no manuscript uploads on this site right now.
Stetleaf doesn't accept manuscript uploads yet.
Stetleaf currently checks papers written in English. That product is not open for uploads on this site.
3. Educational content only
- Our articles and lessons are general education about research methods, reporting, and related topics. They are not medical, statistical, legal or regulatory advice, and they're not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your project.
- Nothing here is advice about the care of any patient. Don't use this content to make clinical decisions.
- No continuing-education credit. Our content is not accredited and doesn't offer CME, CE, MOC or academic credit.
- No guaranteed results. Using our content doesn't guarantee publication, funding, acceptance by a journal or reviewer, or any exam result.
- Guidelines change. Check the current version of any reporting guideline on the publisher's site before you rely on it.
We're building Stetleaf, a pre-submission check that supports peer review; always follow your target journal's instructions. It doesn't replace peer review, your reviewers or editors, or your advisor and committee. It is not a judgment of the science or a substitute for peer review. Not a grade.
4. Independence and no endorsement
Stetleaf and Stetleaf Academy are independent projects of STETLEAF LLC. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any hospital, health system or university with which Dr. Juusela holds an appointment. Views are his own.
Stetleaf and Stetleaf Academy are not affiliated with, reviewed by or endorsed by any reporting-guideline group or the EQUATOR Network, or any journal. Guideline and organization names are used only to identify what the lessons teach about.
5. Using our content
- You may read our free pages for your own learning, print or save a copy for personal use, and link to any page.
- You may not, without our written permission: republish, sell or redistribute our content; use it in a paid product or a course you teach for others; remove credits or notices; scrape or bulk-download the site; or use our content to train, fine-tune or evaluate an AI model.
- Paraphrase, not reproduction. Wave-1 Academy lessons paraphrase reporting guidance. They do not reproduce checklist item text. See each lesson's sources and our Sources page. Reuse of third-party guideline material is governed by that material's own licence where it applies.
- Our names. You may not use the Stetleaf or Stetleaf Academy name in a way that suggests we endorse you or your work.
The site content is provided by STETLEAF LLC. Third-party names and marks remain with their owners.
6. Your conduct
When you use the site or write to us, please don't:
- send us patient information or anything that could identify a patient or research participant;
- send us unpublished manuscripts or other confidential material belonging to someone else;
- use this site to upload manuscripts (this site has no upload feature);
- try to break, overload or probe the site, or get around its limits; or
- use the site in violation of law.
We may add moderated comments later; if we do, we'll post the rules for them here first.
7. Links
Our pages link to other sites (for example, guideline publishers). We don't control those sites, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. A link isn't an endorsement.
8. Copyright concerns
If you believe content on our site infringes your copyright, write to stetleaf@gmail.com with the work concerned, where it appears on our site, and your contact details. We'll review it and remove material where appropriate.
9. Changes and availability
We may update, move or remove content, and we may change or stop the site or the Academy. We'll post any change to these terms with a new date.
10. Our responsibility
- We provide the free site and content as is and as available, and to the extent the law allows, we don't make promises about them beyond those in these terms. We work to keep our content accurate, but it may contain errors.
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost profits or a rejected manuscript) arising from use of the free site or content.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud, or any liability that New Jersey law (or the law where you live) doesn't allow us to limit, and nothing affects any right you have under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act or other consumer-protection law.
11. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by New Jersey law.
- If you live in Canada or another country, nothing in these terms takes away any protection you have under the consumer-protection laws of the place where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow it.
- If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable under New Jersey law, the rest stays in effect.
